The next phase of your job search campaign is networking. It is a preliminary stage in job search strategy. Networking basically means getting contacts and finding out through people about the jobs available.
Published sources are a good way to hunt for job but it is the people or the contacts that you would have made that help you get the job you want. Many jobs are un-advertised; in fact according to a survey almost seventy percent of the jobs are actually un-advertised. Contacts allow job seekers to find out about these jobs. Networking can give job leads.
Networking is all about meeting people. You can meet these useful people anywhere you go. All you have to do is to keep on the look out and always ask carefully planned questions that might give to leads to jobs.
You could always go back to your old teachers and friends and ask them about job search advice or go to your other acquaintances and ask them about job opportunities and job openings. The key factor in this regard is to stay positive and follow up every lead.
Always remember that job searching can be done by seeking and not studying the information from people (placement service, friends, acquaintances, professors, professional associations) and this could only be done if you maintain good relationships and good contacts with different people.
